Lil Yachty- Poland, duh.

I’ve never been a Lil Yachty fan, always thought he was a fucking dumb pos rapper, though I thought it was super dope that he collaborated with Drakeo the Ruler, as I am a huge Drakeo Stan, and that alone proves to me that Yachty is a cool dude. That said, I still haven’t enjoyed any of his solo music, ever. Until he released Poland this year, a very short (1.5 minutes) track that left all 22 million people who listened wanting more.
He talks about taking his wok to Poland, which to me is a metaphor for breaking down borders and merging cultures, though my gut tells me it could also be a reference to drugs. I’m going to take the high road though, as art is open to interpretation, so I think it’s about bringing the food and cooking techniques from one country to another, which is ultimately what will bring us together as humans.

I wonder what would happen if Yachty brought his wok to Russia and Ukraine, perhaps they could all enjoy a nice stir fry and have a healthy discussion, as they digest their oily meals.

The beat reminds me of a Pierre Bourne type beat, but one of the highest caliber, and Pierre Bourne is my favorite pop-rap producer by a mile, so this beat fucking KNOCKS. Yachty also kills it, crooning the hook with the passion of Romeo knocking at Juliet’s window and harassing her while she sleeps, but with love so it’s romantic. I fucking love my wok, and I feel the same way about this song. If I ever make it to Poland, I will have a wok in my checked baggage, and this I solemnly swear.

The Author

I wrote this blog for a few reasons. One is because nobody in my circle of friends ever puts me on to music or things that are dope that I haven't heard about (step your game up friends!) as few people nerd out as hard as me on the dumb things I focus on. The other and main reason is because I am so tired of The NeedleDrop and Pitchfork, from the way Fantano talks about music, to the way that Pitchfork writes about it. Both cause me physical pain to read or watch, yet I for some reason occasionally check their review scores, because they are the only sites I know that do stay on top of music (to a degree), and they focus on genres that I'm not tapped into, so occasionally I find something good. Is it worth the pain? No. So let me save you the pain, by only sharing with you my favorites, and maybe you'll find a new favorite. Oh and I also love talking shit, so I'll do that too, but this blog is about showing love to great art.
