Silk Sonic Concert Review

If you are a fan of Anderson .Paak or Bruno Mars and you didn’t go to see their Las Vegas Residency last year, I am sorry. This is for sure the biggest regret of your entire life.

As a Jew, I have an uncanny knack for pinching pennies, I pinch them so hard that sometimes they break in half. This afforded me the opportunity to fly out to Vegas and see them nearly front row with wifey. This is and will be the only time in our lives that we will be equally hyped to see a show. We spent an absurd amount of our nest egg on this, but it was worth every penny.

I discovered .Paak before many did, as somehow he didn’t skyrocket to fame after killing it all over Dr. Dre’s Compton album. I never heard anyone really talking about him after that, but I was instantly hooked, and quickly discovered “Suede” after, his breakout track with Knxwledge. I’ve been blessed to have seen him live 3 times prior to the Silk Sonic show, twice in 2016, and once in 2019. I’ve told everyone who will listen (no one) that his live show is the best I’ve ever seen.

Throw in Bruno Mars, and you’ve got better fireworks than ISIS has in the stash. I won’t lie, I took a fair amount of Molly before this show, as I wanted to get my money’s worth. I made the right call, as I occasionally do. Afterwards, I went up to the merch booth with scarily massive pupils, and demanded one of everything they had. They for sure hooked it up on the price too, because they thought I was funny/crazy. They weren’t wrong.

The Silk Sonic Show might as well be a magic show, as it’s the equivalent of going to Disneyland as a 5 year old child. That sums it up. If they do more shows and you’re a fan, you better do everything in your power to go. I’d refinance a home or take out a small business loan, whatever it takes.

The Author

I wrote this blog for a few reasons. One is because nobody in my circle of friends ever puts me on to music or things that are dope that I haven't heard about (step your game up friends!) as few people nerd out as hard as me on the dumb things I focus on. The other and main reason is because I am so tired of The NeedleDrop and Pitchfork, from the way Fantano talks about music, to the way that Pitchfork writes about it. Both cause me physical pain to read or watch, yet I for some reason occasionally check their review scores, because they are the only sites I know that do stay on top of music (to a degree), and they focus on genres that I'm not tapped into, so occasionally I find something good. Is it worth the pain? No. So let me save you the pain, by only sharing with you my favorites, and maybe you'll find a new favorite. Oh and I also love talking shit, so I'll do that too, but this blog is about showing love to great art.
