Why do these dumbass blogs write their year-end lists before the year actually ends?

Edit: I should’ve posted my shit sooner, but getting this blog to an acceptable level for myself required more effort than I thought. My picks still fuckin rock though.

I haven’t been motivated to write in a long time, mostly because I hated my job/life at the time, but also because writing feels like work now. Whatever, these shit ass blogs reignited my flame, as I saw their year end lists and wanted to personally dish out ass whoopings to the writers who justified their piss poor tone deaf groupthink type of picks. Even an “underground” blog I know had quite a few basic picks, and then they wrote an instagram post about how it’s so hard being underground and keeping the truth alive and all that bs.

I’m convinced that a lot of these blogs are either influenced by record labels, or are just not tapped in. There were so many great albums this year that didn’t make it onto publication’s top lists. And somehow these cornball shit blogs can come up with 50 great albums this year. Shit, I would struggle to come up with 50 great albums in the last decade, it’s so hard for any artist to make a great album from front to back, but the bar is so low nowadays, that I guess these blogs have lowered the bar. I don’t get it.

I’ve discovered some excellent songs and albums in the last 2 weeks of December, and will share them in a bit. Long story short, I’m tired of the mediocre music that comes out at a high rate today, but even more tired of these sites that promote trash and prove that they aren’t even paying much attention. Sadly I’m only a hip-hop aficionado, but given the lack of hip-hop knowledge from music and hip-hop critics, I can only imagine they drop the ball in every genre. Bums they are (Conor McGregor voice)!!!.

The Author

I wrote this blog for a few reasons. One is because nobody in my circle of friends ever puts me on to music or things that are dope that I haven't heard about (step your game up friends!) as few people nerd out as hard as me on the dumb things I focus on. The other and main reason is because I am so tired of The NeedleDrop and Pitchfork, from the way Fantano talks about music, to the way that Pitchfork writes about it. Both cause me physical pain to read or watch, yet I for some reason occasionally check their review scores, because they are the only sites I know that do stay on top of music (to a degree), and they focus on genres that I'm not tapped into, so occasionally I find something good. Is it worth the pain? No. So let me save you the pain, by only sharing with you my favorites, and maybe you'll find a new favorite. Oh and I also love talking shit, so I'll do that too, but this blog is about showing love to great art.
